Fantastic Reality

The greatest empire ever known is dying- but refuses to go quietly. Its armies, despite being armed with nigh-omiscience and machines that throw fire, struggle in distant deserts with ancient people using cobbled scraps of technology.

Blind humanists and righteous but powerless paragons of virtue try to free the masses from the control of the masters of the world and their religious zealot allies.

Human flight is routine. Cities are motorized and mechanized and full of light and activity. A journey of hundreds of miles is quick and routine. Communication is instantaneous. But the party will last only a few decades at most.

The scale of human activity is poisoning the air and changing the operation of nature. Within a hundred years, the planet will be a decaying husk of deserts and empty cities and scattered human settlement- unless the hopeless opposition wins now.

We are living in the most epic, glorious time that has ever been and will ever be.
